After spending more than 25 years working in the computer industry, Alan and Priscilla Oppenheimer began looking for ways to leverage the knowledge and resources they had accumulated over that time for the greater good. The growing interdependence between science, computers, and the Internet stood out as providing a number of opportunities for that leverage.

We are a small 501(c)(3) organization, but we work on big projects that make a difference for humans. Founded in 2007, we seek to advance humanity through scientific research and education with a current focus on personalized medicine through personalized genomics.

Alan

Alan Oppenheimer is president of the Alan and Priscilla Oppenheimer Foundation. Alan received a combined bachelors/masters degree in computer science from MIT in 1983, then worked at Apple Computer for eleven years as part of the original Macintosh networking team. In 1995 Alan left Apple to start Open Door Networks, an Internet software and services company. Alan is currently a partner at Art Authority.

Priscilla

Priscilla Oppenheimer is secretary/treasurer of the Foundation. Priscilla graduated from Kalamazoo College and the University of Michigan. Priscilla was a software developer from 1980 to 1987 and then moved into the computer networking field, with a focus on technical training and consulting. Priscilla currently teaches Computer Science at Southern Oregon University.

Cedric

​Cedric Dettmar is a member of the board of directors of the Foundation. Cedric graduated from MIT in 1982 with a degree in electrical engineering, and UCLA in 1989 with an MBA. He served as a vice president of Oracle Corporation and now runs his own software company.
